| Okay.... so I'm obviously not a dedicated xangan! I do love keeping up on everyone else though This Spring weather is SOOOO welcome right now- I'm even enjoying the thunderstorms at the moment! | | |
| So, it's been soooo long since I last updated, I actually forgot how... Anyway...what's new with the Bahun's: Ben stays busy (and tired) with his "normal" job at GFS at night and fits in his second job with his business during the day. The school year is off to a good - albeit BUSY- start...so far....the jury is actually still out on that one! Let's see...over the course of the last month we have spiffed up our house, put our house up for sale, accepted two contracts, and will tentatively close on the sale in 5 days...which means we will then have 30 days to move into Mom & Dad's house. Hopefully by that time, they will be closer to actually moving OUT into their new place, which is currently still full of my Grandparent's excess belongings that will not fit into their new condo.....so it looks like we will all be one big happy family again, at least for a short period So that's it in a nut shell..... | | |
| I have realized that Xanga is not for me---my life is too mundane : ) But feel free to keep me updated on all of you! | | |
| So, I decided that I needed a new project to work on during the evenings. Something relatively easy, that I would feel good about accomplishing. Light bulb idea: strip and varnish the old semi-antiquated dresser in the garage. After all, it's only been taking up space in the garage for a year (ok, maybe longer) and I could potentially earn brownie points by getting it out of Ben's way. Plus, it would make a nice addition to my bedroom and give me more storage space. Hmm, I'm thinking to myself, I'm really killing quite a few birds with one stone. So I get my tools together, wheel the dresser out into the grass, don my protective yellow rubber gloves and get to work. This is pretty easy, I'm thinking, I should have done this months ago! I mean, all you do is paint the stripper on, wait a few minutes as it bubbles up and curdles, and then scrape it off. And, I discover, if you listen really close, you can actually hear it make hissing noises! Amazing! Scrape, scrape, scrape......hmmm....not all the flecks of paint come off. No problem, another coat of stripper.....much better. By this time, the sun is getting warmer, I'm thinking maybe I can even get a slight tan ...uhhh.... why is the goop getting sticky? And congealing? Is this supposed to happen? I don't recall reading about this in the directions. Oops..and now my fingers inside my pretty yellow gloves get covered as I try remove the globs from the putty knife...which turns out to be a not-so-brilliant move, because now my gloved fingers are sticking together- in addition to the knife being covered with globs of gunk . To make matters worse, Jake-the-dog suddenly appears and decides that we're friends again- BTW, did I mention that Ben had just given him a bath and he's still dripping wet? Ugggh....after rescuing drawer knobs that Jake has discovered and thinks are new toys, I partially clean up my mess and retreat to my personal domain of expertise...the kitchen. Hopefully a warm batch of chocolate chip cookies will redeem the day...... | | |
| Hmm...looks like I need to make a better effort to keep up on here! According to the calendar, it's been almost a month since my last (and 2nd ever :) posting. Probably a sign of how un-eventful my life is right now! For example, the highlight of my day today: my first lightning- bug sighting of the year!! I knew there was a reason that I always procrastinate on watering my flowers until dark ! | | |
